AIATSIS is conducting a survey as part of the
Returning Native Title Materials (RNTM) research project and the case study
Aboriginal Land Rights in the Northern Territory: Documenting the Records and Memories.
Many practitioners hold personal archives collected through their native title and land claim work and are worried about these collections as they contain invaluable materials that may be at risk of deterioration. Others are considering depositing or returning their materials to collecting institutions or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
With this survey AIATSIS is identifying the nature and extent of native title and land claim archives and what concerns and needs you may have regarding documenting and possibly returning or depositing your collection.
AIATSIS does not offer specific assistance with your archives but is researching the volume and needs of archive holders.
More information on the RNTM project, case study and resources is available at the beginning of the survey.
This survey is open until 25 January 2021.
